I started working at Times-Union Media in July 2017. I had always worked for in-house marketing departments, doing everything from graphic design to copy editing, filming for commercials to coding for email campaigns. The chance to help different businesses and industries strategize their marketing plans while being able to use my own first-hand experiences was something that intrigued me. Times-Union Media is a great mix of strategy plus creativity, and I could tell that I’d be surrounded by a team of like-minded innovators who would help me really grow in my career.
In my 40+ years as a professional journalist, I’ve had the pleasure of working at some of the finest newspapers in the state. I came to The Florida Times-Union as sports editor in 1992. Without hesitation, I can say the experience I’ve had here the past 24-plus years has been the most rewarding.
From the unique perspective of working in a newsroom for 19 years and now in Specialty Publications for the past 20 years, the Florida Times-Union recognizes an employee’s hard work and commitment toward excellence with opportunities for professional development. I’ve worked for Times-Union Media for over 20 years! I chose to work here because I’ve always enjoyed what the newspaper had to offer as a product. Digital marketing, however, has certainly changed the landscape. I love the fact that you can help a business with a specific pain or need, and do it with high efficiency, targeting and with very little waste. Digital marketing shows customers results in real-time. Plus, adjustments can be made on the fly.
The TU has made the necessary investments in the right partners and continuous training that allows me and our sales division to continue to be the leader in the digital space. Beyond that, we have invested in support infrastructure such as design, development of ideas, and execution and fulfillment. Our goal is to provide our customer with the latest tactics and most innovative ideas.
When I moved back to Jacksonville from the Orlando area in 2017, I wanted to work for a company that was reputable within the community. As a graduate from the University of Central Florida with a degree in marketing, I also looked for a company that would allow me to grow and continue to build on my knowledge in advertising and marketing.
At Times-Union Media, we have an extensive training program, along with resources and tools that help keep our team up-to-date with the latest trends in advertising. Along with that, everyone from the top-down is always willing to help provide insight and advice.
I started working at Times-Union Media in September 2016. I have a degree in Media/Communications from Florida State University and all of my internships had been in digital marketing/IT so naturally I was drawn to this industry. I had met one of the real estate reps when I was applying for jobs and was so impressed with her passion for the TU, I knew I wanted to be a part of it all. Whether it’s big or small, I truly feel that I’m actually making a difference at Times Union.
I enjoy the fast paced work environment and the amazing team! I am so blessed to be a part of the TU family; everyone pushes you to be the best you can be and cheers you up when you’re having a rough day. We truly are a supportive TEAM, which is rare in many sales environments.
